Summer is here and that means grabbing a quick bite on the way to the beach or enjoying a meal under a large outdoor umbrella.

June brought us the much-anticipated Huahua’s Taqueria, a fast/casual restaurant featuring a wide array of tacos, Mexican beers, and Margaritas in a dog and people-friendly environment. Aroma Espresso Bar opened another location — this time in Dadeland, marking the first of many dining options in the mall’s new wing, and Drogerie is the place for experimental cocktails in a laboratory setting.

We said goodbye to some well loved restaurants that had long runs.

Bond St., the sexy, intimate sushi lounge, closed despite a loyal following; Waxy O’Connors shuttered its South Beach location; and we said goodbye to The Crab House, which served Miami diners for three decades.

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
