Who doesn’t love when holidays fall on Mondays and Fridays? But sometimes the little buggers pop up on a day of the week so crappy that not even a sky full of fireballs can help us enjoy it. (Hello, Fourth of July 2007.) But we’ll make up for that today while we help our French friends celebrate Bastille Day all over the city.
From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Heart of the Grove Art Gallery (3439 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove; 305-442-6344), we’ll take in artful eyefuls at Red Hot Blue. There will be French-inspired art and wine as well as cheese a-plenty. Then we’re heading to Alliance Française de Miami (1414 Coral Way, Miami; 305-859-8760, www.afmiami.org) to celebrate the storming of the Bastille while we sway to the tunes of Tangi Colombel. General admission is five dollars, but the petits fours will cost you extra. And since independence is nothing without a glass of bubbly, we’ll end the night at the Etoile Lounge at David Bouley Evolution (1669 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) for the eatery’s Bastille Day Bubbles at Etoile. From 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., we’ll indulge in champagne and little bites like Bouley burgers and rose tomato gazpacho shooters. Oui, oui! The feast costs $55 per person. Call 305-604-6090 for reservations.
