If you were jonesing for Oprah’s favorite cake and felt a little left out in the cold for the past few weeks, fret no more. After a short transitional period when the flagship location off Lincoln Road closed, Icebox Cafe is reopening at its new home at 1855 Purdy Avenue in Sunset Harbour today.
After 15 years right off Lincoln Road, owner Robert Siegmann has taken his signature cakes and cafe items to a larger 2,700-square-foot location. The new cafe updates its
industrial chic” look, combining whitewashed tones and antiques to the glowing blue neon and catwalk suspended above the lounge area. The cafe boasts indoor seating for 100 (including lots of cozy banquettes) and outdoor seating for 20. An adjoining city parking lot offers 400 spaces at reasonable rates.
Icebox Cafe 2.0 features a full bar and an expanded menu including rotisserie items, organic produce, an organic juice bar, and many gluten-free and vegetarian options — making this an easy choice for friends with dietary concerns to enjoy a good meal.
Icebox Cafe is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
