University of Miami Hurricanes player Thomas Finnie may not have the name recognition of Cam Newton, but he finds himself in a similar situation. No, not in contention for a Heisman, but accused of a laptop theft.

The defensive back was arrested today on charges of occupied burglary and grand larceny.

According to NBC Miami, the 21-year-old allegedly walked into a UM dorm room on December 4 during the midst of finals study week and swiped an Apple laptop.

Finnie was interviewed by Coral Gables police, and then admitted to the crime.

Finnie is a true sophomore out of Miami Central, and saw action in all 12 games this season.

He’s now been suspended indefinitely from the team.
