Jump around — House of Pain is touring again. And this Friday, Everlast and Danny Boy will jump up, jump up, and get down with you at LIV.

Earlier in March, two-thirds of Pain’s original lineup (DJ Lethal is working on a new Limp Bizkit record) kicked off a cross-country tour in San Francisco, and our sister paper, SF Weekly, caught up with Erik “Everlast” Schrody to discuss how “Jump Around” became the “Louie Louie” of the ’90s. He said, “It doesn’t diminish. ‘Jump Around’ is still in the lexicon. Just like when you hear ‘Louie Louie,’ you don’t really think dated oldies… It’s its own thing.”

Though House of Pain’s musical catalogue stretches well beyond “Jump Around,” the group is best known for the 1992 hit. Says Schrody: “When I first did the Whitey Ford Sings the Blues record, I was pushing that song away from me.” But once critics and fans accepted his solo career, Schrody “re-embraced” the song and began incorporating it into his solo gigs.

“It’s a great, fun, silly, exciting, crowd-fucking-pleasing song,” much like the great, fun, silly, exciting, crowd-fucking-pleasing House of Pain reunion tour.
