Why is it that each generation of Saturday Night Live cast members becomes a sort of Mafia-style family after leaving the show? Adam Sandler, the don of the early-’90s clan, has only so many jobs he can parse out among his former SNL buddies, and Rob Schneider usually gets most of them to support his illegitimate primate children. But what about Jon Lovitz, that singularly voiced, big-schnozzed guy in the Hawaiian shirts? Where’s his role in the critically acclaimed You Don’t Mess With the Zohan? Though the don might have forgotten about the Schnoz, Lovitz isn’t waiting for anybody. He’s taking his nose into his own hands. That’s right — Jon Lovitz will perform at the Fort Lauderdale Improv this Friday.
You can observe Lovitz in the flesh, as opposed to watching his cartooned visage, The Critic, on grainy YouTube videos. He’s tossing around the whole stand-up idea after years of being a professional comedian. Gotta love Hollywood. Rob Schneider loves it a little too hard. Deliver us from evil, Jon Lovitz!
