You can have it drizzled onto ice cream or eat an entire block of it whole. Some say it will make you horny, but if your name is Charlie and you own the whole damn factory, we’re sure that myth has gotten old. Since most of us aren’t that lucky, we’ll have to settle for the third annual International Chocolate Festival at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden (10901 Old Cutler Rd., Coral Gables). This Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the gardens will transform into a cocoa heaven.

You can take a tour of the rain forest and track the origins of your favorite Hershey bar, or purchase an Oncidium “Sharry Baby” Chocolate orchid and create your own rich, nutty, nougaty confection at home. There will be sculpture competitions, a chocolate spa, and of course tastings, tastings, and more tastings. Admission is free for Fairchild members and children 5 and younger, $10 for children ages 6 to 17, $15 for senior citizens 65 and older, and $20 for adults.

Sat., Jan. 24; Sun., Jan. 25, 2009
