George Zimmerman has been in relative hiding since he was handed a not guilty verdict nine days ago, but ABC News reports the world’s most controversial self-appointed neighborhood watchman was spotted last week pulling a family from a flipped SUV on I-4 in Sanford.

Sanford Police Department Capt. Jim McAuliffe confirms Zimmerman pulled a family from a truck after it was involved in a crash last week near the intersection of I-4 and Route 417. The crash involved only one vehicle, but a family of two parents and two children was inside the Ford Explorer when it flipped.

The incident happened less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot and killed Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin.

In fact, the father whom Zimmerman helped knew his face.
