If you ran the Miami Marathon yesterday (or sacrificed sleep to hold up witty signs on the sidelines), we salute you. You’re probably sore, tired, and feeling (deservedly) self-satisfied. If only we had your motivation — and ability to function before a few cafecitos.
As a reward for your amazing accomplishment — or just for reading New Times — we have some free fun for the next five days. From Star Trek to recess, here’s a killer lineup of ways to stay busy this week, no dinero required.
Downtown Recess in Bayfront Park: Clearly, adults need recess way more than kids do, thanks to #cubelife. Take a midday break to play 4-square and giant Jenga and eat your Lunchables.
Wednesday
Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan at Soundscape: Here’s your chance to see Star Trek as it was meant to be — in the capable hands of Kirk and Spock (the originals, of course). Check out Shatner when he was young, brash, and all about bedding every female in the galaxy.
Bonfire Under the Moonlight at Canvas: Considering we live in a city where our winter is everyone else’s summer, we don’t have nearly enough bonfires. Luckily, the Arts & Entertainment District is filling the void. Drink PBR, eat s’mores, and listen to tunes by Kids.
Friday
Viernes Culturales at Domino Park: From a historic walking tour to tunes by La Candela Orchestra to a meet-and-greet with author Cecilia Fernandez, it’s an entire evening’s lineup of culturally enriching events.
