$7,500

After another soaking wet weekend, we’re officially sick of summer. It’s time to ditch the umbrellas and say so long to the mutant mosquitoes. Fall, in all its dry, low-humidity glory, can arrive anytime now.

Besides, we miss eating on patios. In the sunshine.

But in the meantime, here’s an assortment of stuff you can do this week that won’t cost a thing. So you can save your pennies for when the good weather returns.

Monday

  • Speed dating at Whole Foods Pinecrest: If you’re 36 to 49 and your dating life is looking a little dull, spice it up with fellow locavores. Couples who eat quinoa together, stay together.

Tuesday

  • Orchids 101 at Shenandoah Branch Library: Since we live in a tropical paradise, we might as well know how to manage the gorgeous flora and fauna all around us. Orchids, for example. Learn all about these fabulous flowers and get to greening that thumb.
