With 2 days left in our spring campaign, we have a new $10,000 goal!
New Times members have already contributed more than $7,500 - can you help us hit our new goal and keep New Times free and in print every week? If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today.
Anyone brave enough to test her defensive driving skills in the throes of spring break and Winter Music Conference traffic just to hit the bars and restaurants on South Beach knows that crossing Alton Road is only half the battle. Sure you might survive the hour long trek, narrowly escape a few fender benders, but where will you park? Next time skip the causeways altogether and head north for Happy Hour at Sushi House. The black and white, Asian minimalist décor isn’t romantic in the least, which makes this place a good choice for casual dates or an after work snack and bitch session. Add a few rounds of five dollar large hot sakes, and maybe those office flirts will finally cross the forbidden line. (Give them more to drink; we love having something to talk about.) Tentacle fans, get your fingers on the squid salad or the calamari that is so delightfully crisp you will not want to share. Specials — including salmon, Miami, and spicy tuna rolls — range from four to seven dollars. And there’s plenty of free parking.
