Feel the Spirit

While we disagree wholeheartedly with hypocritical doctrine, missionaries, and the entire existence of post-Braveheart Mel Gibson, we also firmly believe that American music would be a wasteland without gospel. Take away Son House, the Carter Family, and Mahalia Jackson, and we’d all be listening to Clay Aiken blow into a pan flute. But some people may not be aware that the gospel tradition is alive and well, and many of its biggest names are coming to the Ziff Opera House at the Carnival Center, as part of the McIntyre Institute’s Called 2 Dance/Chapter 4 liturgical dance extravaganza.

Detroit’s J. Moss, who has worked with Destiny’s Child, Patti LaBelle, Dru Hill, and Boyz II Men, is the headliner, and he’s bringing with him PAJAM’s celebrated boy-band 21:03, in addition to crossover artist Deitrick Haddon and Latin gospel star Freddie Colloca. Expect elaborate sets, beautiful wardrobes, and world-class vocals for both young and mature audiences. The truth ringeth out beginning at 7:00 p.m.
