Won’t someone please, please, please think of all the sad little sports-team-owning billionaires during this election? America, they need our help. Iraq War? Pffft. Mortgage crisis? Whatevs. Schools, poverty, health care, research, the environment, civil rights, an ever-deepening ugly partisan divide? Wayne Huizenga would just like to not-so-subtly remind you all that none of those things matter, and the true result of electing Barack Obama is that it might make it a lot harder for him to unload his remaining share of the Dolphins.
“He wants to double the capital gains tax, or almost double it. I’d rather give it to charity than to him,” Huizenga told the Sun-Sentinel, explaining why he wants to sell his stake before an Obama presidency.
Why doesn’t Barack Obama care about the financial situations of men worth more than $2 billion trying to pawn off the remains of a once-proud sports franchise that found itself near ruin during his ownership? WHY? Yeah, yeah. Kids need decent schools. People need health care. Mortgage crises needs fixing. But whatever, Wayne Huizenga NEEDS those charity write-offs.
