We’re convinced Halloween is for adults. Sure, there’s trick-or-treating for kids — and who doesn’t love a newborn in a pumpkin costume? — but the rest of October is for drinking and disguises. Nowhere is that more evident than at Monster Masquerade at Zoo Miami. The second-annual event is part of the zoo’s Spooktober celebration, and ticket proceeds will benefit the Zoological Society of Florida’s mission of wildlife conservation and education. Party animals over the age of 21 can enjoy an open bar, food, music, and admission to Dr. Wilde’s Creepy House, the zoo’s 7,000 square-foot haunted house. Partygoers will also have the opportunity to win weekend getaways, restaurant gift cards, and other prizes during the Best Costume Contest. Warning: The gorilla doing the monster mash is probably just a sweaty dude in a costume, but exercise caution just in case — after all, it’s a zoo. The bash kicks off at this Saturday 8 p.m. Tickets cost $50 in advance and $65 at the gate. Call 305-251-0400 or visit zoomiami.org.
