When we get drunk over here at the New Times, we tend to throw on some Jimmy Buffett and reminisce about the good ole’ newspaper days of the late 1760’s, when reading the “pape” was not only expected, it was required by Divine Order of the King. (Damn, I miss the monarchy…)

But when the guys at the Drink + Draw Club get drunk, they break out the charcoal pencils and make art. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and the irrefutable evidence is that only Our Divine Red-Suited Savior could conjure something as awesome as the Drink + Draw Club and allow anyone of us to become a member.

Here’s step by step instructions:

1. Go to the News Lounge (55th Street Station, adjacent to Soyka) between 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. tonight, Thursday, June 25

We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?

We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Miami.

$30,000

2. Order an alcoholic beverage. May we suggest one of the $2.50 beers or $4 mix drink specials?

3. Draw an EXACT replica of Diego Velasquez’s “The Count-Duke of Olivares on Horseback”*

*or like, a couple of horse dicks, or something

BTW: The guys at IAmYourVillain came up with the Drink + Draw Club, not Santa. And they plan to make it a monthly thing, so stay tuned.
