Legendary New Orleans musician Dr. John and The Lower 911 are bringing a whole new type of funk to the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Dr. John mixes jazz, funk, R&B, and psychedelic rock, then cooks it up with some serious voodoo vibes and captivates audiences. Joining Dr. John is Fort Lauderdale’s own The Heavy Pets, a jam/improve band who are building a serious fan base in the jam circuit. The show costs $30 in advance and $40 day of show, but you get so much more for your cash than just great music. All this is happening during the second annual Blues Brews & BBQ event, which features food from six area restaurants and plenty of drinks to wash it all down. The festival starts at 4 p.m. and runs through 11 p.m.
