Rick Scott’s bizarre attack on anthropology majors seemed completely random. Well, apparently his remarks may have had some family drama implications. Turns out that Rick Scott’s own daughter majored in anthropology and never found a job in her field.
Scott tends to keep his personal life pretty personal (remember the hubbub with his brother?), but the Gov’s daughter, Jordan Kandah, majored in anthropology at the College of William and Mary according to The Tampa Tribune.
She never found a job in the field though, and worked for a while as a special education teacher. She then enrolled in an MBA program this fall.
While talking about university reform earlier this week, Scott said, “Is it a vital interest of the state to have more anthropologists? I don’t think so,” among other jabs at the major. The American Anthropological Association promptly shot back with an angry letter.
