Last night at the Biscayne Triangle Truck Round-up (BTTR), there were food trucks and people too. From 5:30 to 9 p.m., customers walked back and forth from Jefe’s Original Fish Taco and Burger, to Miso Hungry and CheeseMe, tasting grub from each venue. Even with temperatures well into the 50’s, people still happily stood outside to eat their fish tacos, burgers, and chicken curry. There’s just something cool about eating from a truck.
Parked alongside a grassy patch next to 109th and Biscayne Boulevard, the trucks served food that made it worth your hands feeling numb from the cold. The thought process behind this is “more truck, more choices, more flavors”-showing up in numbers will be able to give customers more to choose from, which sounds pretty good to us.
“We had a really great turnout with the cold weather but they were bundled up in some impressive warm coats and jackets,” says Jack Garabedian, owner of Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burger. “Even the local police stopped by to say hello and shake some hands, with big smiles they said they were glad to see us.”
The trucks will continue to come out on a weekly basis, so if you didn’t brave the cold last night, head on over next Tuesday, same time, same place. “The people, the food, I can’t wait for next week,” says Garabedian. Frankly, neither can we.
