With Anthony Wiener’s sext scandal and Allen West’s ongoing shenanigans, it’s easy to forget just how horrible Miami’s Rep. David Rivera is. The freshman Republican representative has been under investigation by several state and federal agencies since taking office. Unsurprisingly, he has now been named among the “Most Corrupt” politicians in D.C. by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).
“Multiple agencies on both the state and federal level are actively investigating the Miami member for a whole host of shady schemes that have lined his personal pockets, enriched his friends and family, and shown a total disregard for the truth,” CREW writes.
Most of Rivera’s ethics troubles stem from his dealings with parimutuels. Funny how a politician’s ethics seem to go right out the window when rich gambling interests are involved. As a result, Rivera is under investigation by the FBI, IRS, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Miami-Dade Police public corruption unit, and Miami-Dade State Attorney’s office.
