Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Sweat Records‘ Sweatstock this Saturday, celebrating the store’s five-year anniversary and coinciding with Record Store Day, requires mandatory attendance from anyone who gives a crap about the local music scene. The all-day event features some of the best South Florida artists across multiplegenres, and Black Bobby‘s live set is sure to make 305 hip-hop fans proud.
Kowtowing neither to commercial-rap corniness or underground backpacker restrictions, Black Bobby’s music exists in a rarely occupied in-between sonic space that recalls golden age lyricism and crackly beats without getting stuck in the past. As a gift to Sweatstock attendees, he’s giving away a free three-song pack of his new tracks, “Fortified,” “Hanzo,” and “Major Blazer.” The latter’s a Major Lazer rework that’s climbed all the way to number two on the current Gigacrate charts.
