Chef Carlito Jocson of Coral Gables’s Yard House will serve a special St. Patrick’s Day menu today and tomorrow. Treats will include corned beef brisket braised in Irish beer with boiled red potatoes and cabbage ($16.95); shepherd’s pie with Guinness-stewed beef sirloin and roasted garlic mashed potatoes encased in a puff pastry ($15.95); and a grilled corned beef sandwich with melted Swiss cheese and roasted garlic aioli served on toasted French bread and accompanied by a hearty stack of French fries ($10.95). The regular American/fusion-ish menu will also be available. But who are we kidding — you’re gonna go there and drink beer, right? Well, Yard House has the best selection in town.
Among the 100 to 250 draft beers poured at the island bar are Murphy’s Irish Stout, Guinness Stout, Smithwick’s, and Harp Lager — plus, for the next couple of days, Yard will give in to crass customer demand and also tap a handful of Emerald Isle-colored beers.
All that’s missing is a little music, so Yard will play Irish artists such as U2, Sinead O’Connor, Van Morrison, the Cranberries, the Pogues, Boomtown Rats, Thin Lizzy, Hothouse Flowers, and the Undertones.
