Citrix Systems, the Ft. Lauderdale based software company, is instituting a new policy in which it gives employees $2,100 to buy a laptop of their choice. The gimmick is that it’s cheaper to essentially give each employee a computer than buy a company owned computer and provide tech support. Employees will act as their own IT department. This might work at a software company, but maybe not so much in less tech savvy industries. Still though, it’s a pretty neat idea and enticing benefit for potential employees to choose their preferred machine and then take it home at night.
