There are a couple of things you probably know about Charlie Murphy, like he’s got a good chunk of the same DNA as Dr. Dolittle, and he once hilariously bitch-slapped Rick James at the China Club. But here’s something you might not have heard: “I ain’t afraid of nobody,” he jokes in his new Comedy Central special, I Will Not Apologize. “But if you challenge me to a butt-naked sword fight, we just might have to see Charlie Murphy bitch out!”
Recognized mostly for being Eddie’s older brother and a Chappelle’s Show alum, Charlie has also toured with Mike Epps and Joe Rogan. He has even written a memoir about life on the fringes of Hollywood comedy called The Making of a Stand-Up Guy. And this Friday at 8:30 p.m., he’ll land at the Miami Improv for the first of three consecutive nights. Go and get to laughing. But don’t start talking shit or Charlie’s gonna check your ass like you’re Rick James’s illegitimate kid.
