You know why we haven’t had a major hurricane in quite some time? Because Gov. Charlie Crist gets down on his knees.
Crist left a payer note on the Western Wall in Jerusalem in 2007 while on a trade mission that read, “Dear God, please protect our Florida from storms and other difficulties. Charlie.”
Last year, he left the note-leaving duties to Democratic State Sen. Nan Rich (because apparently Florida’s new “a whim and a prayer” hurricane prevention program has support across the aisle). This year he gave the note to a friend.
It seems, except for some severe flooding caused by last year’s Tropical Storm Fay, Crist might actually be on to something here.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If Miami New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
