The key to rescuing the world from this recession lies in placing unemployed workers in high-paying jobs that require no particular skill set or intelligence. For instance, sports columnists, the governors of certain outlying states, and whoever is responsible for translating titles of American movies into French. Home Alone became Mom, I Missed the Plane; Jaws was The Teeth from the Sea; and The Matrix somehow translated into The Young People Who Traverse Dimensions While Wearing Sunglasses. Not that we’re any better at this.
The lovely Deux Jours a Teurs, playing Friday night at AMC CocoWalk 16 as the opening film of the France Cinema Floride Festival, has become the grammatical oil spill Love Me No More, though in no way should this title dissuade you from catching one of the best French films of the year. Start time is 7:10 p.m., and tickets cost $10. Call 305-466-0450, or visit www.francecinemafloride.com for a complete schedule of the three-day film fest.
