Today is national chocolate milkshake day — another completely made up holiday brimming with awesome potential. We were planning to write a list of the best chocolate milkshakes in Miami….then we figured we would up the ante and share the places that offered boozy versions.
And yes…each place has a wonderful non-alcoholic version just in case you want a little parent-child bonding moment this evening.
Burger and Beer Joint
Leave it to this rock & roll burger establishment to have an entire adult milkshake menu. There are five different adult milkshakes (all $9), but for chocoholics we suggest the O Face, made with chocolate ice cream, Frangelico, and hot fudge. Alternately, you can go bananas with the spank the Monkey, made from rocky road ice cream, bananas, UV cake vodka, and Bols creme de banana. Non-alcoholic versions are $5.
8 oz. Burger Bar (South Beach Location only)
The 8oz. Burger Bar on South Beach will spike their vanilla or chocolate milkshakes with your choice of Baileys Irish Cream, Kahlua, Chambord, Castries (peanut liqueur), pomegranate liqueur, Sambuca, St. Germaine, Midori, Grand Marnier, or Canton (ginger liqueur). $10 gets you a spiked “adult” milkshake, a regular (no-booze) shake costs $5.50.

Serendipity 3
Serendipity 3′s spiked frrrozen hot chocolate ($14) makes you alternately nostalgic for your childhood and glad you’re an adult. Because only grownups can enjoy this frozen boozy treat. Three varieties await, but we head straight for the Black Nijinsky in which the restaurant’s secret frrrozen hot chocolate recipe is spiked with vodka and Kahlua, then topped with an edible chocolate cup filled with a Castries rum creme floater. Non-alcoholic version is $11.
Adult Chocolate Milk
If you haven’t had Adult Chocolate Milk, you are missing out. A pre-mixed blend of chocolate milk and vodka, this little beauty sells for around $18.95 and is available at most liquor stores, including Grove Liquors. Just pour into a blender with ice , add chocolate ice cream, fruit, peanut butter, or anything else lying around and you’ve got an instant celebration.
