Chan Marshall never really seems to catch a break.
While her management and PR team were pushing Marshall’s new album Sun as the ultimate proof that she’d finally gotten her shit together, we here at Crossfade knew something was up when the songstress was hospitalized and Tweeting weird shit, just weeks before her tour kickoff in Miami.
And now, according to an all-caps Tumblr post, she might even be canceling her entire European tour.

The legacy of Cat Power is fraught with countless public performances gone completely and utterly awry. And Sun was supposed to usher in a new era of professionalism that would begin at Downtown Miami’s Grand Central. But when the concert turned out to be the same-old-trainwreck (and Marshall responded to our fair critique of her performance with nonsensically threatening beat poetry), it became clear that this tour was probably fucked.
And sadly, Marshall’s latest completely-devoid-of-lowercase-letters Tumblr post appears to confirm Crossfade’s suspicions:
I MAY HAVE TO CANCEL MY EUROPEAN TOUR DUE TO BANKRUPTCY & MY HEALTH STRUGGLE WITH ANGIOEDEMA. I HAVE NOT THROWN IN ANY TOWEL, I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT BEST I CAN DO. HEART BROKEN. WORKED SO HARD. GOT SICK DAY AFTER “SUN” CAME OUT & BEEN STRUGGLING TO KEEP ALL POINTS OF ME IN EQUILIBRIUM : MIND, SPIRIT, BODY HEALTHY CENTERED & GROUNDED. I AM DOING THE BEST I CAN. I FUCKING LOVE THIS PLANET. I REFUSE TO GIVE UP. THOUGH I MAY NEED TO RESTRATAGIZE FOR MY SECURITY & HEALTH.
Hopefully, Marshall gets the much-needed help and support she deserves.
