Charlie Crist has picked up another endorsement from a high-profile Cuban-American politician in Marco Rubio’s back yard. Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez today officially announced he’s backing Crist.
“I am pleased to support Governor Crist in his bid to represent the people of Florida in the United States Senate,” Mayor Alvarez said in a statement released by the campaign. “Governor Crist has demonstrated his commitment to conservative values that hold government accountable and keep more money in the pockets of hardworking Floridians. He is the common-sense conservative leader we need in Washington, and I am proud to lend my help to his campaign.”
Rubio mulled over the idea of challenging Alvarez in last year’s mayoral race, so no big shock there.
