If you remember the ’90s, you probably remember hating on boy bands. And if you were a Neanderthal (ignorant straight guy), you probably remember telling your girlfriend and your little sister that the guys from ’N Sync, 98 Degrees, and the Backstreet Boys were fags. Well, in at least one case, it turns out you were right (see Lance Bass), but whether we’re talking about the Village People, the Beatles, or Boyz II Men, boy bands have contributed to the soundtracks of our romantic lives.

This Friday and Saturday, the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus celebrates that dubious contribution with its show Let’s Hear It for the Boys!, a tribute to boy bands from the ’50s through today. The chorus issues this warning: “Do not expect to come to this concert to sit and listen. This will be the time to jump to your feet and dance, sing along, and walk away saying, ‘Oh, what a night!’ ” The showtakes place at the Colony Theatre.
