With 1 day left in our spring campaign, we have a new $10,000 goal!
New Times members have already contributed more than $8,000 - can you help us hit our new goal and keep New Times free and in print every week? If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today.
Motion sickness and the fear of a succumbing to a Gilligan-ish fate might keep you on dry land for the other 360 days of the year, but we say pop a Dramamine and suck it up. It’s time to abandon your landlubbing ways because the 68th annual Miami International Boat Show and Strictly Sail Miami are lowering their anchors and setting up shop in our fair town. From this Thursday through Monday, you’ll be able to gawk at the latest powerboats as they slice through Biscayne Bay, and you’ll probably be willing to trade in your BlackBerry for a hook, and holler out an “Arrrrgh, matey” after glimpsing that shiny new sailboat, 85 feet long and calling your name.
Sure, the point of the boat show is to persuade you to actually buy one of these sea Cadillacs, but it costs only 30 bucks for a two-day pass. So dust off your sailing whites and head to the Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center to see which boat rocks your boat.
