What to do with art that’s banned in a totalitarian state? Send it to Miami, of course! Our city is filled with exiles who have been booted form their homelands, so it’s in good company here. Consider the work of Iranian writer/artist Assurbanipal Babilla, for instance: It seems ol’ Babs created an exhibit of erotic nude self-portraits, which was banned and subsequently burned during the Ayatollah Khomeini’s regime. (Some people have no sense of humor.) Although Babilla didn’t flee to Miami, his exile-minded work still made it to our shores. Square Peg Productions, an edgy new theater company, presents his comedy Three Angels Dancing on a Needle, an absurdist look at love, lust, and all sorts of sexy stuff swirling around Babilla’s brain.
