This week’s cover story chronicles the rise of King of Diamonds, the Miami strip club that has become a hang out for some of the most famous rappers and pro athletes in America.
The story follows Disco Rick, the former Miami booty bass pioneer who has found a second career corralling strippers and throwing celebrity parties at King of Diamonds, a gargantuan titty bar that represents the hip-hop zeitgeist of throwing money at naked women. You’ll also get to read about Jack Galardi, the reclusive 80-year-old owner of King of Diamonds who overcame allegations of being tied to the mob, paying off politicians in Las Vegas, and allowing prostitution in his clubs in Tampa while building his empire of strippers.
New Times freelance photographer Giulio Sciorio put together a short video of our photo shoot with Disco Rick with four of King of Diamonds exotic dancers known as Distraction, Dime Piece, Sunni, and Val Chula. Check out the footage after the jump.
