The sun is out, the sky is blue, and there’s little doubt summer is hurtling toward us at an alarming rate. So now is the perfect time to enjoy the weather at an open-air event or even in your own back yard. You can do both at this weekend’s Backyard Paradise Festival in Pinecrest Gardens (11000 Red Rd., Pinecrest). Today from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., visitors can find ways to make their patios perfect and their lawns luscious. “This will be a one-stop shop for whatever you can think of to make your back-yard oasis,” says event organizer Michelle Gilbert. Consider purchasing your very own putting green, pond, or tiki hut. Check out fly floral arrangements, furniture, and fountains. Pick up helpful tips at a series of workshops from garden experts, and buy fresh foliage from plant nurseries. Admission is six dollars. Call 305-669-6942, or visit www.pinecrestgardens.com.
