Janine Shaw, a 43-year-old mother of three competes in the 70.3 Ironman Miami held this weekend.
She writes:
“Over time and especially to rebound from giving birth to kids, the effort
and desire to excel began to build very slowly, but believing in myself that
success would come was missing – I was afraid to fail in order to succeed.
The past 2 years have been different. I learned to train smarter and
harder and, most importantly, to keep at it even when it was not going as
well as I expected. The last ingredient, confidence in myself, finally came
from hard work, dedication and believing in myself.
According to the Flickr page, Shaw came in 11th and was one of many amateur athletes competing in the race.
