What can we say that December’s 3,600-word feature on Bert Rodriguez hasn’t? Since appearing on the cover of New Times mocking Kim Kardashian’s cover for W magazine’s “Art Issue,” we wondered shortly thereafter if Kim or any of the editors at the magazine would see it. W has seen it, but we aren’t so sure Kim has. (We secretly imagine in our heads she has, and she loves it, but it was cut out from the latest episode of Kourtney & Kim Take New York.)

It’s exactly that kind of humor that makes Rodriguez an artist that everyone can sort of “get.” He’s “high-brow” enough that collectors snatch up his pieces sight unseen, but “low-brow” enough that it’s obvious he’s mocking the artist-as-a-celebrity culture.

Meeting Rodriguez in person, you’d be stunned to learn he lacks that cerebral attitude that affects so many contemporary artists — especially for someone who has risen the top of Miami’s art scene.

No, in reality he’s just a Miami kid at heart.

2. What was your last big project?

Recreating the Kim Kardashian Spread in W magazine for New Times this past December and, subsequently having a celebrity poster signing at Fred Snitzer Gallery’s booth During Art Basel Miami Beach.

3. What’s your next big project?

Making a sex tape with Kim Kardashian and eventually having my own fragrance.

4. Why do you do what you do?

Because I do.

5. What’s something you want Miami to know about you?

I think you’re really hot, especially in the summer.

What’s something you don’t want Miami to know about you?

I cheated on you once with NY. It was a mistake. I’ll never do it again.  I love you.
