Chefs Luca Taretto of Tiramesu and Pietro Vardeu of Sardinia will face off on May 20 in an Italian cooking battle at the MiaCucina showroom in Coral Gables.

The battle is the first of the Italian Cooking Show IV, a series of five monthly cook-offs organized by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce to showcase the regional cuisines of Italy. On Thursday, Taretto will cook dishes from the Veneto region and Vardeu will prepare a Sardinia-inspired menu.

Attendees watch the chefs demonstrate how to prepare each of their dishes, taste them with a wine pairing, and then rate them to select a winner. Based on our experience last year, the tasting portions are generous and so are the wine pours.

The event runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 105 Miracle Mile. Tickets are $45. Seating is limited. Can’t make the cooking show? A reception showcasing Italian foods and wines immediately follows. Cost is $10. RSVP to tanti@iacc-miami.com.
