Chip City Cookies, the New York-based cookie company with over 45 locations nationwide, including in Miami Beach and MiMo, has just opened in Aventura to the joy of its residents. The brand, partly backed by New York City restaurant mogul Danny Meyer's investment firm, continues its Florida expansion with this third location in the state.

What started as a showdown between childhood buddies transformed into a multi-state cookie operation. In 2017, Peter Phillips and Teddy Gailas dared each other to create the ultimate cookie in their Astoria, Queens neighborhood.
Their massive, gooey-centered creations proved so magnetic that they moved from kitchen experiment to storefront almost overnight. Now the brand runs 38 shops across eight states.

Each Chip City cookie is oversized, filled with abundant mix-ins, and served warm with a soft center. The shops bake the cookies throughout the day, so customers usually receive cookies fresh from the oven. Phillips and Gailas maintain strict quality control, personally taste-testing every new flavor before launch.

Weekly Flavor Switch

Unlike traditional bakeries with fixed menus, Chip City rotates through more than 100 cookie varieties annually. Popular options include "Peanut Butter & Jelly," "Oatmeal Apple Pie," "Blueberry Cheesecake," "S'Mores," and "Cannoli Cookie."
The brand's signature creation might be its "Everything Cookie," which merges sweet cookie dough with savory everything bagel seasoning – a purposely distinct New York mashup honoring its roots.

The menu changes weekly with a mix of classics and seasonal varieties, plus dairy-free options for dietary restrictions.
The Aventura opening marks the third Florida location for Chip City following Miami Beach and Delray Beach, with its MiMo shop that opened last May. A Fort Lauderdale location comes next.

This rapid expansion reflects the New York City brand's aggressive growth strategy, which attracted backing from Danny Meyer's Enlightened Hospitality Investments. (Danny Meyer is a prominent New York City restaurateur and founder and executive chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group.)

For cookie fans outside store markets, the company ships nationwide via Goldbelly. The Aventura shop will be open Monday through Friday from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
