Whether you're a die-hard chili fan or just in it for a good time, this year's cook-off brings together thousands of chili enthusiasts to stuff their faces, sample bold flavors, and vote for their favorite. "As we head into our tenth year, this beloved event has grown into a celebrated South Florida tradition, bringing together professional chefs, passionate home cooks, and thousands of chili enthusiasts," says Cristina Blanco, executive director of Pinecrest Gardens. "The Chili Cook-Off perfectly embodies our mission of creating memorable community experiences while showcasing our beautiful botanical gardens."
The Spiciest Showdown of the Year
But it's not just about the chili — cooks will also be gunning for the "Best Decorated Booth" award, turning their setups into creative masterpieces that add a colorful twist to the competition. One of the judges tasting the chili this year is New Times' food editor Nicole Lopez-Alvar.While the chili heats up, attendees can two-step to live country music from Southside Stampede, try their hand at riding a mechanical bull, or get lost in the rows of classic cars on display. Add to that the beautiful botanical gardens as your backdrop and the unlimited samplings of flavor-packed chili.
Founded in 1967, the ICS has been organizing chili cook-offs across the country, raising funds for charity, and crowning an annual World Champion. ICS-sanctioned events are held throughout the year, promoting chili as a competitive culinary tradition. In 2020, the World Food Championships acquired ICS to expand its presence in the growing food sport industry.
