Chop Steakhouse & Bar, one of Canada's most recognized steakhouse brands, is officially crossing to the U.S. and landing in Miami. The restaurant will open its first U.S. location this June at 3015 Grand Ave. in CocoWalk, taking over the 10,000-square-foot space formerly home to the Key Club.
For those expecting a classic steakhouse vibe, it's allegedly anything but. With an impressive new island bar, covered patio seating, and private dining rooms, the restaurant aims to feel more like a fun South Florida spot than a mahogany-and-cigar kinda restaurant.
Therefore, Chop is looking to shake up the Grove with an elevated but unpretentious vibe.

The bar program has cocktails like the "Truffle Martini" and a "Clase Azul Negroni," plus a wine list and local beers on tap.

Not Your Typical Steakhouse — More Casual For Every Day
"This isn't your grandfather's steakhouse," says Tyler Jones, general manager of the Coconut Grove location. "We're premium without being pretentious. Whether you're here for a celebration, a weeknight dinner, or just a well-made cocktail, we're aiming to be your go-to, not just a once-a-year splurge."With that in mind, Chop's menu still stays true to its steakhouse roots, with USDA Prime cuts like a 32-ounce Tomahawk and tenderloin medallions. However, there’s plenty happening outside of beef. Expect ahi tuna tataki, miso-glazed sea bass, shucked oysters, and a wild mushroom risotto that, according to the restaurant, holds its own against the heavier fare.
For daytime diners or anyone craving something lighter, Chop offers dishes like the "Mediterranean Bowl," a chicken avocado BLT sandwich, and the "Chop Burger" topped with smoked cheddar and garlic aioli. House-made desserts include the restaurant's staple, pineapple upside-down cake, and a chocolate mousse.

Backed by the team that brought Moxies to the U.S., Chop Coconut Grove is designed to be an all-day, all-occasion spot. Whether it's brunch with friends, a lunch meeting, or a slow dinner that rolls into drinks, the space is built to flex with the moment.
"We saw a gap in the Grove for something that checked all those boxes,” says Jones. "Chop is that place." Reservations are already open at chopsteakhouse.com.
