Tropical Storm Erika is still menacing the Caribbean, with her eye set on South Florida by early Monday. With that being said, we have the weekend to stock up on supplies, clean up any loose debris like palm fronds from our yards, and shore up our homes — and still have time to party.

So go and fill up your car with gas, stock up, and then reward yourself with a little fun after battening the hatches. Since we are in the weather forecast cone of uncertainty, and conditions may change throughout the weekend, it's a good idea to call ahead before heading out to any events this weekend if in doubt.

Stay safe and weekend starts now!

IKEA Miami Turns One
IKEA Miami turns one with a celebration that lasts all weekend long. The Swedish furniture store is offering a free meal all weekend at their restaurant. Just purchase $100 or more of home furnishings and the store will deduct your restaurant receipt from your purchase. You'll also have a chance to win a $500 gift card by scanning your IKEA Family card at any kiosk or cash register. In addition, on Saturday, August 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. kids are invited to build a birthday cake out of Legos with prizes for the most creative toy cakes. At 3 p.m., everyone will sing "Happy Birthday" to Ikea. For a complete list of activities, visit ikea-usa.com/miami.

Vinos in the Grove Burlesque
If you like your wine with a side of bawdy entertainment, come out to Vinos in the Grove (3409 Main Hwy., Coconut Grove) this Saturday, August 29, at 9 p.m. for a night of classic burlesque, cabaret, and wine. Master of ceremonies Rio Dios Mio will host a bevy of acts including Sofia Luna, Aurora Natrix, and Morgan La Rue. There is a $5 cover and a one-drink minimum. Bottle service and tables are available as well. For more information and to RSVP, call 305-442-8840.

Florida Weisse Bash
Florida weisse beers and sours are the perfect drink for Miami's summer days. These sweet and tart fruity brews are generally low in alcohol and high in refreshment. On Saturday, August 29, J. Wakefield Brewing celebrates all things sour at the fourth annual Florida Weisse Bash. From 1 to 6 p.m., sample beers from almost a dozen breweries including 7venth Sun Brewing, Angry Chair Brewing, Cigar City Brewing, Darwin Brewing Company, Green Bench Brewing Co, Green Room Brewing, JDub's Brewing Company & Tap Room, MIA Brewing Co., Proof Brewing Company, Wynwood Brewing Company, and, of course, J. Wakefield.

There's no cover charge, and a $5 ticket buys you either an eight-ounce sour or weisse or a 16-ounce pour of a Wakefield core beer. Food trucks and live entertainment round out the afternoon.

Cool off at the Delano
The Delano Beach Club, poolside at Delano South Beach, has a new menu of frozen treats to cool you off on a hot summer afternoon. Drinks include the Beach Club Passion ($21), a frozen treat made with Malibu passion, blood orange, and passion fruit. There's also a frozen fruit platter ($11), a generous serving of icy cold natural sweetness. If you're looking for an old fashioned way to chill out, the Delano's ice cream cart features home-made gelato and sorbet in classic flavors like coconut, strawberry, chocolate, and mango. Want some punch to your ice cream? Ask your server to add some rum or tequila. Bet that's something the neighborhood ice cream truck would never do.
