A longtime Miami steakhouse of over 20 years will make its grand comeback this spring. Hereford Grill will reopen under new ownership at 782 NW 42nd Ave. near Flagami in northwest Miami-Dade. The steakhouse, which closed in 2022 after 25 years in business, lands under new ownership from Da Silva Hospitality (DSH), the group behind Zucca in Coral Gables.

Before planning the reboot, DSH owner Erasmo Da Silva took his team to Argentina to work with Michelin Guide pick Corte Comedor. "This isn't just reopening the old place," Da Silva tells New Times. "We're bringing something fresh to Miami's dining scene."

The 250-seat restaurant splits between indoor and outdoor spaces, with a private dining room for events. The kitchen centers on an open-fire cooking setup where cuts from Argentina and U.S. farms hit the flames.

Short Rib Croquettes, House-Made Empanadas, and Bone-Tomahawk

Start with the "Cravings" menu: think beef tartare crowned with crispy sweet potato strings, short rib croquettes with Romesco sauce, and house-made empanadas. For the main event, a bone-in tomahawk for two leads the steak options, while lamb sausage comes plated with hummus and yogurt.

Skip the standard steakhouse sides. The "From the Garden" menu offers a roasted beetroot salad stacked with stracciatella, pistachios, basil, and balsamic. An endive salad brings crunch with fried capers, Pecorino cheese, toasted peanuts, and a kick of lemon-anchovy dressing.

Watch the show as crepes catch fire tableside before getting hit with dulce de leche. Not into flames? A classic tres leches cake rounds out dessert.

A Family Business with Roots in Venezuela

Da Silva's restaurant roots stretch back to Venezuela, where his father launched DSH in the 1950s. The company now runs six restaurants and two hotels in Venezuela, plus a restaurant in Portugal. Their first U.S. move came in 2017 with Zucca in Coral Gables.

The group isn't stopping with Hereford. Later in 2025, they'll open Zuccaly, a 9,000-square-foot Italian food hall in the Plaza at Coral Gables. The space will pack in six dining zones: a pasta and risotto counter, a pizzeria called LaBiga, a grill and seafood section, and Portavia, a market mixing dine-in and takeout options. A bar program focused on Italian wines, beers, and cocktails rounds out the 190-seat spot.
