Sunday, May 26, nearly two dozen chefs will once again come together for Duck Duck Goose, chef Jeremiah Bullfrog's ode to fowl and foie gras.
The fourth-annual festival will task local and national chefs to prepare locally raised and pastured fowl in creative dishes, which might range from duck confit mac 'n' cheese to French toast fried in duck fat.
This year, participants include Pubbelly's Jose Mendin, Ms. Cheezious' Brian and Fatima Mullins, Madruga Bakery's Sasha Ullman, Coyo Taco's Scott Linquist, and FOH Inc.'s Nicole Votano. Brad Kilgore, who runs Alter, Kaido, and Brava, will be in attendance as well, showcasing his forthcoming Design District restaurant, Ember.
"What's new is less important than what we continue to work on," Bullfrog says. "We're trying to deliver a solid event that improves and grows organically each year. No gimmicks or stunts, just a hell of a good time at a price point that is unparalleled in the food game."
You know Bullfrog from his other Miami-based food fest, P.I.G. (Pork Is Good). But instead of preparing a whole roasted pig, he — along with the more than a dozen other participating chefs —will be tasked with creating unique bites using duck and foie gras from Hudson Valley Foie Gras.
In addition, Eamon Rockey of Rockey’s Milk Punch in New York City will spearhead the VIP cocktail pairings, and the event will include music and live DJs. Food and drink will be served on and in biodegradable dinnerware to help minimize environmental impact, according to Bullfrog.
A menu for the afternoon event, set to take place at the Anderson, is not yet available. But Bullfrog assures there will be enough foie gras and whole duck to last until next year. You can also expect cocktails, champagne, and unlimited food samplings. Tickets are priced at $58, or $93 for a VIP option with cocktails.
"We could easily charge double the ticket price, but it’s important that we stay approachable to everyone," he says. "The VIP upgrade is available for those who prefer a more comfortable food festival experience."
