If you thought Las Rosas was gone for good, think again. The beloved Allapattah dive bar, which swore in 2022 that it was "permanently closed," just pulled the most Miami resurrection since Churchill's announced its shocking comeback this year.
On Friday, August 8, the beloved bar and music venue's long-dormant Instagram page quietly swapped its signature dead rose emojis in its Instagram bio for fresh rose blooms and deleted the farewell message that had been sitting there for three years. There was no grand announcement, no "We're back, baby!" post, just a digital wink. And yet, the internet noticed. Fast.

The Instagram account @PeoplePlacesThingsMiami has confirmed that Las Rosas opens on Friday, August 8 at 5 p.m. with musical acts beginning at 9 p.m.

Internet Sleuths Do Their Thing
Local band Ladyboy confirmed on their Instagram story that they're playing at the reopening of Las Rosas tonight, adding that the show "starts at 9 p.m.," even though the venue itself hasn't said a word publicly. Plus, a Reddit post titled "Las Rosas is Back! Get Ready!" is racking up comments from so-called "elder millennials" who are already plotting their return and petitioning for other ghosts from Miami nightlife past (looking at you, Purdy Lounge and Electric Pickle) to follow suit.Adding to the speculation, the Instagram account, @PeoplePlacesThingsMiami, has just confirmed that Las Rosas will reopen on Friday, August 8, starting at 5 p.m. with a free cover. "This is not a drill," reads the post. "Beloved Miami bar Las Rosas returns tonight with Ladyboy headlining and support from Creature Cage and the Jump Cuts performing live. Doors open at 5 p.m. with music starting at 9 p.m. for this highly anticipated reopening of the local favorite venue."
Why Las Rosas Was So Popular From 2016-2022
For the uninitiated, Las Rosas wasn't just a bar; it was an ecosystem. Opening as a single-room, Mexican-themed dive, it evolved into a sprawling venue with a patio, a stage, and a wonderful sound system. Known for its rock 'n' roll atmosphere, well-loved jukebox ready for any and all requests, and the neon-red rose that illuminated its backroom stage, Las Rosas was home to a variety of musicians and locals away from the touristy commotion in nearby Wynwood.Seven to ten live acts a week was the norm, spanning punk, indie, garage rock, and whatever DIY show the scene could dream up. You could play pool, catch a set from your favorite local band, and chain-smoke in the back patio until sunrise — all while surrounded by graffiti-splashed walls and a crowd that somehow felt both grungy and glamorous. It was messy. It was loud. It smelled like beer, sweat, and possibility. And that's exactly why Miami loved it.
Honestly, Churchill's and Las Rosas both reopening in 2025 was not on our bingo card. Whether this surprise comeback will capture the magic of the original remains to be seen, as rumors have it, the bar has undergone renovations. But tonight, for the first time in three years, Las Rosas will be buzzing again, and the city's music scene just got a little more alive.
Editor's Note: Friday, August 8, the dive will open as a soft opening. The official grand opening, according to Las Rosas, is Thursday, August 14.
