The space retains much of the original architecture — vaulted ceilings, stained glass, and arched windows — now contrasted with dark leather seating, red velvet curtains, and multiple cocktail bars. Designed to operate as both a fine-dining restaurant and a late-night speakeasy, Jay's is expected to offer live entertainment, a members-only lounge, and a rotating chef's tasting menu.
From Church to Chophouse with a Late-Night Speakeasy
Created by Yes Hospitality, the South Florida-based restaurant group behind concepts like Naked Taco and Riviera, Jay's marks one of the group's most ambitious restaurants to date, with a focus on pairing high-touch hospitality with theatrical dining elements inside a dramatic, historically significant space."Jay's is where you go to feel taken care of," Yes Hospitality president Jay Shirodkar says. "It's meant to feel like a backstage pass where things are off-script, elevated, and never pretentious."
Located at 441 NE Third Ave., the restaurant occupies the former site of a 1930s Lutheran church. Much of the original structure has been preserved, including its stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and arched architecture. These elements are contrasted with plush banquettes, red velvet curtains, and three full-service bars designed to keep the space active throughout the evening. "The building gave us the perfect foundation of being classic, iconic, built to last," he says.. "We kept that spirit but brought a whole new attitude to it: bold, sexy, a little unpredictable. That's the balance we aim for at Jay's, respecting tradition while giving it a jolt of energy."
Elevated Steakhouse Dishes With an Edge
The menu features a range of elevated steakhouse dishes, including Wagyu steak tartare with Japanese dijonnaise, saffron-poached lobster macaroni and cheese, and Robuchon-style pommes purée. Prime rib is carved tableside from a trolley, while starters like truffle duck fat waffle fries and caviar-topped grilled cheese sandwiches aim to bring a playful edge to traditional fare. A chef-led tasting menu, dubbed "Let Jay Take Care of You," is also available. The beverage program emphasizes vintage spirits, craft cocktails, and globally inspired flavors. Highlights include the Origami Plane, made with Japanese whisky and Amaro Nonino, and All Grown Up, a creamsicle-inspired drink combining vodka, whiskey, and vanilla. The bar will also offer a curated happy hour and late-night programming.
Jay's is slated to operate as both a dinner destination and a late-night venue. Live music, DJ sets, and a members-only club are expected to launch in the months following the opening. Membership perks are expected to include access to exclusive events, custom bottle lockers, and off-menu dining experiences.
