Tagliatelle brings more Italian to SoBe
Tagliatelle brings more Italian to SoBe

Brunch at Kaspia, Tagliatelle in SoFi, Sunday Supper at Angelique, & Johnny Rockets On Board

Restaurant Tagliatelle opened last night in the space that formerly housed the club Amnesia and a host of restaurants that didn't make it (Cafe Tabac might have lasted the longest). Mediterranean cuisine with pasta and seafood is the theme here, but somehow opening an Italian restaurant in South Beach seems so 1990s.

Kaspia, the Parisian restaurant in The Webster hotel on South Beach, has commenced serving Sunday Brunch (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The a la carte menu features tapas-sized servings of favorites such as eggs Benedict; scrambled eggs with shaved truffles or with the Spanish ham delicacy pata negra, or with smoked salmon or caviar; crepe du jour; and steak & eggs. An extra $25 will buy you unlimited mimosas, bellinis, or organic Bloody Marys. Jazz and soul singer April Raquel provides entertainment. Question: How many mimosas does one have to drink before $25 becomes a decent deal?

Starting this coming Sunday, Angelique Euro Café will open for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.and introduce its new family-style dining concept. Chef LeRoy's Sunday Supper specials will be served in hefty, shareable portions - dishes such as osso buco, pan-roasted duck, and mixed parillada. Dishes come in several portion sizes depending on the size of the family, and those of you who reserve for dinner on November 7 will receive a complimentary glass of wine, draft beer, or dessert on that evening. Presumably LeRoy's Monday Supper is leftover osso bucco, pan-roasted duck, etc.

And, finally: Johnny Rockets, Home of the Original Hamburger, hits two landmarks this month, both of which revolve around the number 11. Firstly, it will be celebrating the opening of its restaurant onboard Royal Caribbean International's Allure of the Seas -- the world's next largest cruise ship. This will be Johnny Rockets' 11th Royal Caribbean cruise ship location. A two-day maiden voyage cruise on November 19 will be attended by celebrities and VIP sorts, and then the ship officially debuts in December. Come December 1, JR is also opening a new locale at the International Mall -- its 300th restaurant overall and eleventh in Miami. Lucky us.
