Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
We’re kicking off our spring fundraising campaign at New Times. We’ve set a goal to raise $7,500 by April 26.
This campaign isn’t just about raising money. It’s about showing you what it takes to do this work and why it matters. At New Times, we spend our days watching out for Miami: tracking decisions, following the money, attending meetings, asking hard questions, and reporting stories that help people understand what’s happening around them.
That work remains possible because of support from readers like you.
As an independent news organization largely funded by declining print and website ad revenue, we also rely on community support to sustain our work and keep it accessible. We’ve always been free online with no paywall and in print weekly (also free), and we hope to keep it that way.
In March alone, our stories reached nearly 507,000 website readers, but our journalism across social media saw a whopping 11.9 million impressions. It’s no secret that the way readers consume news is changing (not to mention AI previews and Google changes are preventing more readers from visiting our website), and while our audience reach continues to expand as we make sure our stories are told where readers are, the advertising revenue we rely on isn’t evolving as quickly. (If you’re a business that wants to get in front of our audience, we’d also love your support through advertising. Email advertise@miaminewtimes.com to learn more.)
Every dollar we earn through our membership program helps fund journalism that serves our community, whether we’re holding power to account, profiling a local musician or sharing things to do this weekend.
Right now, that mission is especially important. We’re continuing to report on Trump, immigration, Miami connections to the Epstein files, along with telling the stories behind our food, culture, and music scenes (has everyone recovered from Miami Music Week yet?). With that, our newsroom has been producing some powerful work, like reporting on how a Mexican teenager died while in ICE custody in South Florida.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll share more about our reporting and impact. We hope you’ll be inspired to become a member by giving any amount to support our newsroom. Every gift moves us closer.
Did we mention the latest merch drop?
