$7,500

Last week, President Trump treated the nation to a preview of his future presidential library, a towering skyscraper planned for a prime (read: worth potentially hundreds of millions of dollars) spot of real estate along Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami. The video rendering shared online raised quite a few Botoxed eyebrows in Miami. But for one Miamian — activist and historian Marvin Dunn — it just solidified a plan to sue over the proposed tower. Again.

Dunn previously sued Miami-Dade College last year when it quietly took steps to hand over the property for the library. That suit was ultimately unsuccessful. But as New Times reported last week, Dunn is now readying to go to court again in a bid to stop the project, which Trump said will “most likely be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby, which is gonna be a trick.” (He also said he doesn’t believe “in building libraries or museums.”

“I don’t believe that most of the people in Miami, in this community, want to see that building dominating Biscayne Boulevard,” Dunn told New Times. He added: “Anyone with eyes can see that this is not a library, it’s a Trump hotel.”

Editor's Picks

On Instagram and Facebook, readers had a lot of thoughts on the potential lawsuit — and the presidential library itself. One wrote, “Good news is construction won’t start till after he is out of office which means he will be in jail so it’ll probably never happen.”

People questioned whether it really counts as a library:

It’s not even a library. It’s a hotel with gold statues in it.

The pathetic grift of giving this land for a presidential library would not seem to cover giving it for a for-profit hotel and condo tower.

Republicans banning books but wanting a library🤦🏼‍♂️

Miami Dade College really sold that land for a hotel… can’t even play the education and expanding the college brand card anymore

He’ll need a lot of space to display all the EPSTEIN files

Should feature only books that Trump has actually read.

A (much) smaller group liked the looks of the project:

All yall are triggered. Great stuff!

Presidential library is a phenomenal place where our “local students” can learn… not to mention what a president library does for the city.

Incredible building and Trump is the greatest President in history!

A lot of people heaped praise on Dunn, a well-known figure in Miami:

Dr. Dunn is a TRUE Miamian who has always fought for his beloved hometown. Much very deserved respect.

Others had suggestions for other places the library could be built:

In West Palm Beach next to Mar a Lago and Epstein’s home. That’s his home city.

I think it is a great idea! Just one thing: Put it at Alligator Alley!! 🤡🤗🥰😍🤩😂🤣

Move his library to his beloved Mara Largo. He already knows how to store and keep public records…

Shouldn’t it be on the grounds of Trump University?
