Everybody is getting excited about tonight’s Miami New Times Iron Fork event, to be held at Grand Central downtown. There will be great food and drink, all sorts of chefs and food industry personalities milling about, lively music, general festiveness, and – possibly the highlight of the evening – the First Annual Short Order Awards will be given out.
Oh, and there is also going to be the Iron Joke — er, Iron Fork chef competition, whereby last year’s winner, the acclaimed John Critchley of Area 31, faces off against some guy from one of Doug Rodriguez’ restaurants. D-Rod apparently screwed us by dropping out, and guess there were no other Miami chefs willing to go mano-a-mano with Critchley. So while this particular event will no doubt suck, the rest of the evening looks to be a seriously good time.
