Back in my DJ days at WVUM my grandparents called in and asked to hear some Jimmy Buffett. Mr. Margaritaville isn’t really a college radio staple, but I did have a PSA that Jimmy had recorded for the Save the Manatee Club. So although I’m not really demographically inclined to enjoy Buffett’s music, I’ve always appreciated his civic-mindedness.

Now Buffett is going to join Barack Obama onstage in the Tampa Bay area for one of the candidate’s last Floridian stops, on November 2. Perhaps he’ll inspire some last-minute changes in latitudes, changes in political attitudes, and bring about an Obama Breeze.
