Francis Suarez isn’t the only one speaking at the the Saudi-Arabian-backed Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute Priority “Capital in Motion” Summit at the Faena Hotel and Forum in Miami Beach this weekend. The president will be there too, making what’s being billed as a “special address.”
President Donald Trump is set to talk at the summit on Friday, to close out the three-day investment conference, which begins on Wednesday. This will be Trump’s second consecutive appearance at the event, funded by the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF).
The FII Priority Summit first took place in Miami in 2023, thanks to former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who, the Miami Herald uncovered, had cozied up to the PIF Governor and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s right-hand man, Yasir Al-Rumayyan, at one of the summits in Saudi Arabia. The U.S. Senate has launched probes into the Saudi PIF and its growing influence in the country as it tries to whitewash the kingdom’s bloody reputation.
Other speakers at this year’s event include the former Miami mayor, Trump’s son-in-law and Affinity Partners CEO Jared Kushner, White House science and technology adviser Michael Kratsios, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Donald Trump Jr., and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
“Under the theme ‘Capital in Motion,’ this summit will explore how capital must move, adapt, and lead in a rapidly fragmenting world, and how investment, technology, and policy can unlock sustainable and inclusive growth, with a strong focus on Latin America and the Americas at the center of global transformation,” a press release reads.
According to the summit program listed on its website, Suarez is scheduled to appear on a panel on Wednesday titled, “Who Captures the Upside of the New Latam Order?” At last year’s conference, Suarez announced the opening of a Saudi investment office in Miami.
“As this ‘new LatAm order’ takes shape, how can opportunities be identified, financed, and scaled to support sustainable growth and shared benefits of both investors and the wider region?” a description of the panel reads.
Kushner is speaking on the “How Does the US-Gulf Investment Relationship Perform Under Pressure?” panel on Thursday. Richard Attias, chairman of the executive committee and acting FII Institute CEO, will moderate the discussion. Witkoff and Trump Jr. are both slated to speak on Friday prior to President Trump’s closing address.
